Abraham and I (Christina) began our careers in education. Throughout our lives we have experienced homeschooling, private schools, and public school. After moving to Houston, I found out we were expecting our first child. At the time, we were both teaching for a local public school district. We decided that I would stay home to raise our children. Abraham continued teaching and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.

By the time our oldest daughter began school, we had already decided to homeschool. I began helping two other families with their homeschooling choices. I taught their children preschool and then was asked to help more as their children grew older and they were busier. I started to realize that many families would like to homeschool, but didn’t have the time to commit to planning, researching curriculum, and the other responsibilities that come with homeschooling.

While this was going on, Abraham had begun coaching football and was still pursuing a career in education. As he reflected on the general attitude of leadership in all of the public school districts he had been in, he began to notice that he disagreed more and more with the philosophical direction of the public school system. He was told to avoid certain discussions in class to “keep the peace” even though he was explaining historical truth about which he had been asked. There were several other instances where leadership leaned on him to do things that a Christian should not do. Through these situations, Abraham came to the realization that he no longer wanted to pursue a career in the public school system. He looked back and realized that the days he enjoyed teaching the most, were days where he courageously taught what was true. Students were captivated, connecting the dots in history.

At this point that we began to think of starting a Christian school. What if students could learn the truth everyday, not just when they asked questions? What if we could teach God’s Word directly? What if we could help families who wanted to homeschool, but didn’t have the time or confidence to do it well. What if we could lead our children and other children to the Kingdom of God instead of being forced to quietly allow them to believe what is false?

That is how The Armory Christian Academy began. We are two parents who want our children to learn the truth, to love learning, and to confidently pursue whatever career path God has for them. We want that for your children too, and we would love to help you achieve those goals.
